Interuniversity Hackathons 2k18

ISM APAC partook in mentoring and judging Hackathons organized at Colombo University School of Computing, the University of Uva Wellassa, and the University of Kelaniya.

The first one held was ihack 4.0 organized by the Colombo University School of Computing, for the 4th consecutive year. The event was a 24-hour software development hackathon that engaged students from both state and private universities on 6th and 7th of October 2018. The hackathon which took place in two sessions came to an end with ‘The TeamName’ from the University of Moratuwa winning the competition followed by the 1st runner-up who was ‘CrunchCode’ from the University of Peradeniya and ‘Team inIdea’ from the University of Kelaniya taking the place of the 2nd runner-up.  Other than being in the judge board, we were proud as ISM APAC was able to be the platinum sponsor for the event.

REALHACK, organized by the Software Engineering Students’ Association of the University of Kelaniya took a different initiative for the inter-university competitions. The competition invited all university-level students to face a preliminary hack session on HackerRank, a competition that chose the best 15 teams to enter the REALHACK competition. After a 24 hour competition, Team ReturnX from the University of Colombo School of Computing won the first place with Team PHOENIX and Team CODEX both from the University of Moratuwa becoming the 1st and the 2nd runner-ups respectively.

The University of Uva Wellassa IEEE Women In Engineering organized the SHECODERss V2.0 for the second consecutive year on 13th to 14th of October 2018. With much tense and competition, we were able to witness some tremendous work coming from our women coders from the different universities that took part. A team of experts from ISM APAC also was present to guide the young coders during the competition. Finally, the women coders from the University of Colombo won the title of the event.
